Spy Shots: Clearest view yet of new small Buick sedan

Filed under: Buick, China, Spy Shots

The clearest images yet of the upcoming Buick compact sedan have been captured in China. This is one of the numerous future models that was saw at the GM design center last summer and it is essentially nothing more than a sedan version of the new Opel Astra. At this point, we still don't know what the new model will be called in North America, although it is badged as the Excelle in China.

The Buick is built on the same Delta II platform as the new Chevy Cruze. The top engine in the Cruze is a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine with 138 hp. In China, the Excelle is expected to use a 1.6-liter turbo and we wouldn't be surprised to see that same engine in the U.S. model. Buick has not said when the new compact will debut, but with GM's busy schedule in Detroit, we're betting that this car will be held until a later show, probably New York in April.
