Korean automaker CT&T, makers of the unusually-shaped e-zone neighborhood electric vehicle, intends to open two production, assembly and distribution facilities in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, according to an announcement from Gov. Edward Rendell last week. The good news for the state is that there will be 400 new jobs created. CT&T will use something called the Regional Assembly And Sales (RAS) system to build the e-zone in the U.S. According to previous announcements from the company, the plan is to spend $8 to $10 million on each regional facility. One somewhat surprising number from the press release is that CT&T plans, in the long-term, to build 40 regional assembly and sales systems in North America. When available, the e-zone should be sold for around $12,000.
Pennsylvania has been moving towards energy alternatives for many years, including with things like PHEV school buses, $3 million in Alternative Fuel Incentive Grants and some more ethanol.
